Certification as an Iyengar Yoga instructor is widely regarded as the highest standard of certification for teachers of Hatha Yoga worldwide. Before certification Iyengar Yoga teachers are required to undergo years of study, mentoring, and training with a more senior teacher. After this period they apply for and must pass a series of assessment examinations. In the assessment itself candidates take a written test and they are carefully observed and evaluated as they demonstrate Asanas and Pranayamas and teach a class of students.
Iyengar Yoga teacher certification is granted by the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States.
